Rainbow Folad’s 5 Step Process to Bathroom Tiling & Kitchen Tiling
Tile installation starts with planning, preparing, tiling, grouting, and final inspection.
1. Planning for Installation
Estimating the exact amount of tiles, adhesives, and grout is the first step.
A precise estimate of the percentage of tile wastage helps to keep costs low.
This is usually 10 % more than the actual surface area that is being tiled.
2. Preparing the Tiles & Floor
Check if the walls can hold the weight of the tiling.
Clean, dry and prepare the surface for the application of adhesives.
Use measuring tape and spacers to plan how the tiles are to be arranged.
Cut tiles into shapes that account for sharp ends and curved surfaces.
Mark the final position of tiles before the application of adhesives.
3. Tile Installation
Use a trowel to apply a good, even layer of adhesive to the tiling surface.
Press and twist tiles to fit into the adhesive one row at a time.
Use Tile spacers to ensure a uniform joint.
4. Grouting & Applying Sealant
Grouting starts once the adhesive has hardened.
Inspect to check that tile joints are clear of excess adhesives.
Remove all tile spacers before grouting.
Prepare the grout by mixing the grout mixture with water into a consistent creamy base.
Use a grout float to fill the space between tile joints.
Wait for the grout to set before washing off debris with a sponge and clean water.
Use a Silicone Sealant to apply over the tile joints uniformly.
5. Polish, Inspect, & Handover
Fix uneven surfaces and broken joints by plugging the gaps to remove inconsistencies.
